She could see his pain,
the way his expression sank,
hollow when he opened his eyes.
Blue hues meeting her features almost
desperately, like she was a mirage. As if she
would flicker and fade if he couldn’t catch her quick
enough. But she wasn’t just a daydream. She was real.
And so was him. Her raggedy Doctor had found
his way back to her arms after all; she hugged
him tight, his arms folding her with a warm touch.
Her eyes were watering up when she blinked,
a chuckle escaping her lips. She had missed
him even more than what she could express.
However, it would never stop her from trying.
❛ Doctor. ❜
He didn’t speak, not for a few moments.
Tears had welled in his eyes
and that was something that wasn’t supposed to happen any more.
After this long, you really were supposed to be over it, weren’t you?
Mourning isn’t supposed to last forever,
but for him there seemed to be no end, not really.
Loss encircled like some vicious predator,
waiting to strike when time was right.
How his hearts hadn’t given up the pretence
and shattered into a million pieces quiet yet,
he had no idea.
But in that moment, he knew.
Knew that the fiery haired girl that
just didn’t make sense was back again.
How, he had no clue.
But she was here.
The little bit of a fairytale that he held
so very dear
had managed to float back upon the wind.
Breathing and
warm and
present and
alive.
“I missed you.”
